AUDITIONS ARE HERE!  We're so excited to get Nutcracker 2020 started!

 


Auditions:  Wasatch Arts Center, 11968 S. Redwood Rd, Riverton, UT 84065

Friday, September 25th    4:30 pm to 5:15 pm

Friday, September 25th    5:30 pm to 6:30 pm 

Friday, September 25th    6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

 

*Please come dressed and ready to audition.  There will not be room to get dressed at the studio.

*Bring your own water bottle

 

*Dancers check in and receive their audition number at the studio door.  Parents will need to wait outside, dancers only in the studio.  (Exception to this are dancers under the age of 7)

 

*A Waiver form needs to be signed by each parent for each dancer during check in.

 

*Dancers will need to wear a mask in the lobby but will be allowed to remove them while dancing.

 

We recommend that dancers try their best and SMILE!       

Female Dancers:  please come in a black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes.  Hair in bun. Dancers with pointe training please come with pointe shoes on, warm up on your own. 

Men & boys: white fitted shirt and black tights or joggers.     

Performers and adults wanting to be "Party Parents" come in comfortable clothes.

Nutcracker 2020 Audition Information

 

Oquirrh Mountain Ballet is a non-profit Ballet Company under the direction of Alice White.  We are looking for dancers and performers for our 6th annual production of the classic ballet, THE NUTCRACKER.  We have non-speaking roles for performers available as well as roles that require extensive ballet training.

AUDITION SIGN UP DEADLINE:  Thursday, September 24th

To accommodate the current COVID conditions we will have smaller audition groups.  We will email you your audition time.   Plan on about an hour for the audition for younger dancers and an hour and half for older dancers.

During the audition we will teach choreography from the Nutcracker and have them show us basic ballet technique.  We recommend that dancers try their best and SMILE!

AUDITION DETAILS:

Friday, September 25th:

Boys & Girls Ages 5 -12 @ 4:30 to 6:30 pm (times are approximate)

Boys & Girls Age13 + & Adults @ 6:30 to 8:30 pm (times are approximate)

Female Dancers:  please come in a black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes.  Hair in bun. Dancers with pointe training please come with pointe shoes on, warm up on your own.

Performers:  come in comfortable attire and ready to move.

Performance Dates:  December 9 to 12th at the Sandra Lloyd Performing Center in Riverton, UT

Participation Fee is $125, and we require a $50 volunteer fee which can be “worked” off with service hours. 

All rehearsals are held at Wasatch Arts Center, 11968 S. Redwood Rd, Riverton, UT. Rehearsals are held on Friday and Saturdays starting in September and leading up to the show.  Tech week is the 2 days before performance and is mandatory.

Costume, Hair and Makeup Requirements for Nutcracker 2019

General Instructions: 

We will be providing costumes but, there are a few items that dancers will need to have.  Please read next to your role.  In general we will NOT be providing shoes, make up or nude leotards.  We will be providing tights.  We will be providing eyelashes.  Pink Ballet shoes required unless otherwise directed.  
Hair in a left part, mid bun. Buns are to be straight back, in middle of head.  Unless otherwise directed
Basic Stage makeup unless otherwise directed, no wings.  Basic Stage Makeup consists of foundation, browns on the eyelid, black eyeliner, blush and red lipstick.  We have included some youtube videos that will help you with make up.   See below.

Lipstick color:  Revlon ColorStay Overtime in Ultimate Wine, available at Walgreens and Walmart.  

All female dancers need a Nude Camisole Style leotard to wear underneath costumes. This is available at DiscountDanceSupply.com or local dance wear shops. We can make a group order to save on shipping.  Let us know if you’d like us to order for you.

Details:
Nutcracker for Party Scene: Party scene: black socks, black ballet shoes, white button up, long sleeve dress shirt, black belt.  Basic stage makeup.  Hair must be neatly combed and sprayed in place. We will supply other costume items.

Nutcracker Prince:  We will provide:  White dress pants. You will need: white button up, long sleeve dress shirt, black socks, black ballet shoes, Basic stage makeup.

Clara:  Ballet Pink tights, pink canvas ballet shoes, nude camisole style leotard.  Hair half up, half down with curls.  Basic Stage makeup.  Lipstick must be red.

Party Girls: Ballet Pink tights, pink canvas ballet shoes, nude camisole style leotard.  Hair in bun. No bangs!! Basic Stage makeup.  Lipstick must be red.

Party Boys & Fritz: white long socks, black ballet shoes.  Hair needs be neatly combed and sprayed in place. Basic Stage Makeup.  

Party Men, Drosselmeyer:  Black dress pants, black belt, white button up, long sleeve dress shirt,  Black socks, Black dress shoes. Basic stage makeup.  We will provide: jacket, vest and tie

Party Women: Tan tights/nylons, black character shoes, Hair should be worn in 1890's style.  We’ll discuss it. Basic Stage makeup.  We will provide: costume

 Party Scene Doll: Ballet pink tights, pink pointe shoes, nude camisole style leotard. Advanced stage makeup, Ms. Isabella will go over this with you
Party Scene Soldier Doll: black ballet or jazz shoes for soldier, nude camisole style leotard.  Hair will be worn in a ballet bun. 
Maid: Tan tights, black character shoes, nude camisole style leotard.  Hair we will discuss styles.  Basic Stage Makeup 

Mice: black dress socks, black jazz or ballet shoes, nude camisole style leotard, optional, can wear black leotard underneath.   Hair in low bun if not in other roles, no bangs, basic Stage Makeup

Soldiers: Girls:  Ballet Pink tights, pink canvas ballet shoes for girls, white for boys, nude camisole style leotard, Basic Stage makeup, Hair in Bun

Mice King: black pants, hair will be worn pulled back and in a style so you are comfortable wearing the mouse heads.  No Makeup is required. 

Male Soloists: Cavalier:  Shoes as required for your costume.  Basic Stage makeup. Hair must be neatly combed and sprayed in place.

Angels:  pink ballet shoes, need to wear a nude leotard underneath, basic stage makeup, hair in bun

Bon Bons: Ballet Pink tights, pink canvas ballet shoes, nude camisole style leotard.  Hair in high bun, Basic Stage makeup (See Ms Sarah for hair pictures)

Chinese Dancers: Basic Stage Makeup, pink tights and pink ballet/pointe shoes

 Snow Corps, Waltz of the Flowers CorpsArabian Queen and Corps, Snow Queen, Merliton,  Dew Drop Fairy & Sugar Plum Fairy:  Ballet Pink tights, nude camisole style leotard, pink pointe shoes/ ballet shoes. Hair will be worn in a left part, bun. Basic Stage Makeup WITH eyelashes, these will be provided by the company.

 Russian: pink tights, black jazz shoes, black longer bike shorts, Basic Stage Makeup. Hair in bun, we will provide costume

Spanish:  Female: Ballet Pink tights, nude camisole style leotard, pink pointe shoes.  Male:  basic stage makeup, black ballet shoes
